Our fresh v1.7 release makes Mailster compatible with Joomla 4.
All changes and improvements as always listed in the changelog.
Mailster v1.6 is released to allow compatibility wih PHP 8.
It also is our first release that is no longer compatible with Joomla 2.5 (which we supported from 2012 to 2020).
There are a lot of changes under the hood to start to make Mailster ready for the coming Joomla 4 version. However Joomla 4 is not yet supported, since Joomla 4 is still in beta.
All other changes are listed in the changelog.
We are happy to report that Mailster now has a WordPress brother: WP Mailster
After 7 years of only offering our email discussion in the Joomla universe, we are happy to provide WordPress site owners a flexible mailing list solution, too!
Development for it started already in early 2016 and we had hoped to release it much earlier. While the core of Mailster and WP Mailster (especially all things related to the email handling) are very much the same, it proved challenging to replace the code base relying on Joomla since WordPress follows different development principles.
Beta testing was finally started in November 2016 with the help of a group of long time users of Mailster.
The first offical release happened right around Christmas 2016, the WP Mailster listing in the WordPress plugin repository went live on January 1st, 2017. A great way to start into the new year :-)
WP Mailster has its own version numbering (and Pro-product names) and will be released indepedently from Mailster. The feature set of WP Mailster is currently a bit smaller than of its older Joomla brother, but we will add those features in subsequent releases.
Needless to say we have no plans on stopping Mailster's development in the future!
We are dedicated to continuously improving both the Joomla and the WordPress product range in the coming years.
